As part of the Campaign for Real Beauty, Dove has launched a terrific new photography exhibit entitled “Beyond Compare,” profiling the beauty of women around the world. This exhibit recently opened at the Toronto Eaton Centre and will run until August 14. During September and October the show will travel to Montreal, Winnipeg and Calgary. This free exhibit was developed when Dove asked 58 female photographers for their interpretation of beauty. Dove’s online gallery includes each of the photographs as well as those that were not included in the traveling exhibition because of political reasons.
Exhibition photographers include Janette Beckham (United Kingdom), Jodi Cobb (Iran), Margi Geerlink (The Netherlands), Ines Goncalves (Spain), Ilian Gonzalez (Mexico), Annie Leibovitz (United States), Tomoko Sawada (Japan), Ellen Von Unwerth (Germany), Veronique Vial (France), Susanne Walstrom (Sweden), and Laura Letinsky (Canada) to name a few.
Beyond Compare program books and t-shirts are available for $5 and proceeds are donated to the Dove Self Esteem Fund in support of The National Eating Disorder Information Centre. The program book includes all photographs from the exhibition and quotes about beauty:
Beauty is not a costume you put on, it is not a mold you can fit into. It is an openness to see. Every woman from every spectrum of life redefines the meaning of beauty everyday. It is not a singular notion. Beauty is everywhere. In every body, in every face, in every woman.
