Little Goes Big
To celebrate the release of his new album, Toronto’s pre-eminent jazz trombonist Russ Little is playing a three-night gig at the Montreal Bistro.
Little is one of Canada’s top session players and has been a featured soloist with such artists as Count Basie and Woody Herman. He is also an accomplished rock musician and is known for his founding of the well-known group Lighthouse (don’t you remember “One Fine Morning”?). Little also plays numerous shows around Toronto and is a member of the Boss Brass.
Little’s record, called “Snapshot” and released through the Rhythm Tracks label, is a collection of jazz originals and a few classics. He will be playing that style of music in the Sherbourne and Adelaide nightspot with all performances beginning at 9pm. Accompanying Little will be his brother, Michael Stuart on saxophone, Tom Szczesniak on piano, Scott Alexander on bass, and Brian Barlow on drums. Cover is $15 and admittance is limited to persons above the legal drinking age.
