Inside the CBC Strike
Watching or listening to the CBC right now is painful for Torontoist. We quite like our nation’s public broadcaster and seeing all these unfamiliar faces, anchors with British accents and endless repeats is making the news and Cancon junkie in us really depressed. And what’s with the game with no commentary, granted it is just the CFL but I don’t know if we can watch an entire hockey season like this.
It also seems that for us journalist types the CBC lockout is a bit of an existential crisis. Joe Fiorito writing in the Star isn’t all too happy about it. Even Izzy Asper the Asper owned Montreal Gazette seems saddened by the CBC lockout.
But forget what those on the outside are saying, if you want dispatches from the trenches there’s this bulletin board. A few choice words have been thrown around but as a whole the mood of the strikers still seems upbeat. Let’s hope it stays that way.
