3. Carlton Cinema (20 Carlton St)
The only downtown movie theatre that serves alcohol (not in the theatres, silly), Carlton is figuratively and literally one of the coolest cinemas in the city. But the Carlton’s cool streak extends beyond their art house movie picks and drink-serving staff: It is so cold in there, patrons (as they’re known in the movie usher business) will often bring extra clothing for the movie. But for those who welcome the extra a/c, don’t worry about wearing that t-shirt or tank top either; in the dark lighting of their movie theatres, nobody can see how erect your nipples get.
With booze, food and flicks on site, there’s absolutely no reason to leave on a hot day.
