Miller: Let Us Tax Ourselves!
Between all that pancake making and gingivitis week declaring, Mayor Miller still finds time to do work on actual policy. MDM thinks the power to collect income tax will help assuage the expected $1.1 billion budget shortfall next year. He also thinks that if the Provinicial and Federal government could get together to return some of the $11 billion more TO pays out than it gets back, and could ‘upload’ costs for some of the services the city now pays for, then municipal finances could get back on track. MDM likened his plan to a new deal. “This is the new deal,” he said.
