Ist List: Meet/Meat Markets # 5
Is it “meet” market, or “meat” market? Either one works, though it probably doesn’t matter to those who venture out every weekend with that one goal (score!) in mind. For all intents and purposes, the best places to meet someone fast (if you know what we mean) is in downtown’s club district. But who cares to read about Joe Nightclub or other Night at the Roxbury type establishments for the rest of the week? Realizing this, Torontoist cut those downtown clubs out of this week’s countdown of best meet/meat markets in Toronto. Lucky for you, the number one pick-up bar is just in time for this Friday night…
5. Revival (722 College St W)
“The place where friends congregate and celebrate,” or so says the website. This is a pick-up bar that’s evolved from an upscale student hangout over the past five years. Before it took off it was a free night of Brit-pop and 60’s dance music, then growing into a serious Saturday night grope-stock. Revives is now a chic $10 cover, and barely follows their old all-Brit formula. In addition, check the half-dressed go-goish girls on the bar and strict style-code in effect (that is, you have to look hott). And gentlemen look out, just like most meet-markets, the giant-sized, air-conditioned dance floor becomes a sea of those striped button-down shirts and spiky hair dudes on weekends. Regardless though, any place that has a radio station live-to-air night (Edge 102) is usually good for getting “digits.”
