Breaking: Splitsville!
Not only did Belinda Stronach leave the official opposition, but the millionaire politician also left her official main squeeze. After crossing over the party line earlier today, Stronach was asked by the press about her relationship with the once bitten, forever smitten Peter MacKay. The CBC story describes:
Pressed on how her decision will affect her romantic relationship with Central Nova MP Peter MacKay, the deputy leader of the Conservatives, Stronach called that a “personal matter” that she did not intend to comment upon. She also said she had the “greatest respect” for MacKay.
But word from various Conservative insiders is that Stronach’s tiger-like ruthlessness got the better of Mr Mackay, who is now nursing a fractured party and broken heart. So the Stronach-MacKay coalition is over – expect other Conservative MP’s to take sides.
