T.G.I.F. Week One of Two
For those of you still in mourning over the lost hockey season, Torontoist says “Get a Life Loser”. Both this Friday and next will offer Toronto sports fans something they have been waiting for since the Argo’s Grey Cup win… Excitement! The abysmal basketball season will be pushed aside tonight as baseball returns to the newly revamped Rogers Centre, with the Blue Jays taking the field against the World Champion Boston Red Sox. The 2-1 Jays currently hold a one-game lead over the Red Sox in the tight American League East Division. Twenty-five year old David Bush will take the mound for Toronto. The team expects big things out of Bush this season. The Sox will respond with second-year starter, Bronson Arroyo. If this isn’t enough to make you forget about Darcy Tucker and Aki Berg, just wait…
Friday April 15 2005 will go down as a legendary day in both Toronto Raptors and Canadian Professional Sports history. Next Friday night, ex-Raptor turned villain, Vince Carter will make his long-anticipated return to the Air Canada Centre. Following his trade to New Jersey, Vince has re-captured his dominating ability, leading the Nets to the verge of a playoff birth. With a hotter ticket than a hypothetical Maple Leafs Stanley Cup final game, both fans and Vince-haters alike will be packing the ACC looking for a chance to persecute their former hero. The match-up is expected to provide both Toronto and the NBA with an unprecedented level of “BOOing”.
Torontoist was considering shelling out $800US for a pair of tickets behind the Nets bench on ebay this past week. However after further thought, they realized it would be both a waste of money and beer, as they were sure to get arrested during the pre-game warmup for hurling their beers at #15.
