Now That the Shoe’s on the Other Foot…
The sometimes evil Nike corporation has apparently flipped up a green thumb. The company announced the Reuse-A-Shoe Program in Toronto. Nike Canada, in partnership with the City of Toronto, wants to use old shoes to build a $500,000, stink-of-the-art soccer, basketball and track complex made out of recycled shoe material. The project, called Nike Grind, needs donations of 50,000 pairs of used athletic shoes (any brand) so they can build the largest Nike Grind facility in the world. Donate at retail stores around the GTA. The company seems to be making amends for past crimes against humanity with the project, that works nicely with their eco-friendly shoes. As for the location of the Grind mega-facility, Nike is thinking Malvern, while Torontoist is thinking Adelaide and John. Athletes Perdita Felicien and Damon Allen are currently looking at a small model of the project.
