Go to the Glow, or at least Mark your Calendar

glowhouseBH4.jpgTOist ambled over to 323 Palmerston last week, to see what happens when TV goes bad, or more precisely, when thirty TVs go bad. As is often the case, ‘so bad’ becomes ‘good.’ Artist Kelly Mark, who is all over the place these days, likes to fill big houses with TVs set to the same channel, and watch them glow in unison. And in Glowhouse #3 the result is quite beautiful, though TOist must admit we prefer previous glow houses (like the one pictured), to the rather normal, if huge, house on Palmerston, just a hop north of College.
It’s also important that you go to keep the security guard company. Poor guy has to stand there all night, watching over a handful of TVs, and shaking his head at the weird kids who bike over at midnight to see the ‘modern art.’ So go, and bring the guy a snack, or a joke.
And now back to Kelly Mark. The prolific gal has also got a show up at Wynick Tuck, of beautifully ornate letraset drawings. The expansive drawings had us enraptured, but a gallery-goer broke away from the beauty to offer the artist, who happened to be wandering about her own show, a fresh baked cookie. She declined. What a strange world we live in. But despite the artist’s inability to appreciate some finely wrought chocolate chip biscuits, you should check out her finely wrought art works.
