Drop it Like It’s Doc

PREA1_1.jpgSo many docs, so little time. But if we could single out just a few films from the piles of Hot Docs offerings, we’d definitely see:
Don’t Fuck With the Lewises: A Day in the life of Frankie Jean Lewis, sister of Jerry Lee, and proprietor of a drive-through liquor bar in Louisiana. Friday, 11:30pm.
Preacher With an Unknown God: Reverend Billy thinks he’s cooler than he is (or at least that was the consensus at TOist’s alma mater, where he tought a class), but he’s still kind of neato. He preaches the gospel of the Church of Stop Shopping, as documented in this film. Last year he paid TDot a visit and worked his faux-ministerial magic on Kensington Market.
Grizzly Man: Werner Herzog brings us this freaky doc about a guy who hangs out with grizzlies, that is until he and his wife get eaten by them. Yeesh.
Murderball: One of the most hyped offerings of this year’s fest, Murderball is an intimate glimpse into the sporting lives of paraplegics who play the rough and tumble game of wheelchair rugby. Hell on wheels.
Errol Morris: Is getting the outstanding achievement award. He is outstanding, and he does achieve, so why is Hot Docs only screening two of his pieces?** We’re not sure, but you won’t go wrong with either offering.
