None of these things is just like the other, but here you go anyway:
– My Parent’s House, the new HGTV design show that sends twentysomethings back to live with their parents, and spar about area rugs accordingly, debuts tonight. Oh, and according to the promo copy, they also throw ‘two hot, young designers into the mix,’ for good measure. What’s more, “the two work together with adult siblings to create high “wow factor”, city-style makeovers in mom and dad’s outdated suburban home.” TOist likes the idea of trying to make the best of every young person’s worst nightmare. 9:30pm.
– OK Go, those peppy purveyors of pop, blew the roof of the El Mo last night, despite a half-capacity crowd (‘our best Toronto showing yet,’ remarked the band toward the end of the set). But what was most remarkable was their encore – a fully-choreographed dance routine to ‘C-c-cinnamon Lips,’ complete with leaps, contagions, spot-on lip synching and the shedding of blazers. The crowd ate it up, and TOist wished every band performed such fun and fiery encores.
– GTA Bloggers enters ‘TOist baked good review’ territory with an optimistic review of a new West-end cherry pie and coffee joint, nicely named Cherry Bomb Coffee. According to AaronO, ‘the owners are earth-friendy’ and use recycled materials. Recycling and Cherry Pie? Sign us up.
– Local blogger/illustrator‘s cartoons about the adventures of superauthors Jonathan Lethem and Michael Chabon gets Gawkered. Most amusing.
