Worth the Wait for Weekend Brunch at Bonjour Brioche

food.gifThis weekend, TOist headed eastbound for brunch at Bonjour Brioche, a French-style eatery that’s a favourite with the Queen East crowd.
With its lovely French-inspired décor, great atmosphere and delicious food, it’s well worth the wait to get in – there’s usually a lineup on weekends, but  spring is (hopefully) just around the corner, which means Bonjour’s roomy side patio will open soon.

image001.jpgThere are too many items on the menu worth raving about so we’ll just stick with a few.  Best start off with some fresh juice like pear and ginger ($3.50), then try the very filling Baked French Toast ($7), or our favourite, the savory Provençal omelette with tomato, green onion, black olives and gruyere, served with what is probably the best baguette in the city ($7).  Daily specials include soup ($5), tarts ($7.50) and quiches ($7.50).
And in the spirit of bold-faced brunching, TOist should mention that we were just a table away from Broken Social Scene darling Jason Collett.  Catch him live tonight as he hosts the revitalized Radio Mondays music series, in its new home at the Supermarket (268 Augusta Avenue), in Kensington Market.
Bonjour Brioche is located at 812 Queen Street East, east of Broadview at Degrassi St.,  (416) 406-1250, **cash only**
Hours: Tuesday – Friday, 8am-5pm, Saturday 8am-4pm and Sunday 8am-3pm.
(Prices do not include tax)
