TOist In Vogue with Toronto Vintage Clothing Show

image002-1.jpgFashionistas, thrifters and all-around shopping enthusiasts came together at the Toronto Vintage Clothing and Textile Show on Saturday in pursuit of that one, or two, or three great find(s).  The show was held at the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse in downtown Toronto for its first 12 years, then moved to Edwards Gardens last year, and this year found itself in the CBC Broadcast Centre.  The large atrium accommodated over twenty of Ontario’s top vintage clothing and antique textile dealers, including The Bead Goes On, Girlztown, Courage My Love, Cadabout, Petticoat Lane, Goodnight Moon, Sweet Trash, Artophile, Last Tango, and others.
There was lots to choose from, including vintage beaded knitwear – TOist scored with a vintage canary yellow sequined cropped-cardigan in excellent condition  – brooches, cocktail rings, metallic belts and purses (gold, silver and bronze are very in, don’t ya know), plenty of hats, 50’s-style dresses and circular skirts for spring – which were part of a focus on spring skirts, the “ultimate transition pieces,” according to the Sunday New York Times Fashion & Style section.  Circle skirts are a fun trend for this spring. watch out for polka dot and flower patterns, and pair them with a simple top and sleek flats for a great summer look.
Sorry you missed out on this year’s Toronto Vintage Clothing Show?  Don’t worry, The Clothing Show is just around the corner.  This year it will take place May 14 and 15 at the CNE’s Automotive Building and will feature new designer and vintage clothing to satisfy your fashion needs.
