With an imminent date for her deportation set, Wendy Maxwell has now gone on hunger strike. Officials have said that Maxwell will be deported to Costa Rica on March 14th. According to the release, “Wendy faces serious risk from a dangerous Costa Rican gang which she has had dealings with in the past. This despite having an application for landed status filed with Immigration Canada that has yet to be adjudicated.” Costa Rican gangs sound bad, and Wendy Maxwell has been a force for good in Toronto, and throughout Canada.
