He Said/She Said: Let’s Talk Issues
We know that we make it look easy, delivering to you, faithful Torontoist reader, the He Said/She Said dirt every Friday. But what you don’t know is that a lot of rigorous research must be done in order to get to the heart of the issue at hand. Sometimes, our columnists must spend hours at their computers – discussing issues, researching, critically examining the issues.
This week, Paige and Age felt that an inside look into this intense, creative process was necessary. And if nothing else, today’s He Said/She Said can make you feel as though you have spy-esque access to a very revealing conversation.
She: One thing a girl can say that guys will always react to?
He: Like when girls think it’s cool to say “my boyfriend” so early in a conversation?
She: Hey now… only stupid girls do that.
He: Every second word… I mean relax sweetheart, what’s with the
boyfriend defense? I wasn’t even interested…. Although now that you
mention him, I kind of am
She: Girls who do that aren’t worth dating anyways though, because
clearly they have issues with conversational skills
He: I know… but they are fun to steal from their boyfriends.. Those
are the stupidest girls
She: Okay but alternately, guys who don’t mention that they have a GF and flirt and carry on like they are interested in you…That’s BAD!
He: Well that’s different! They clearly aren’t interested in you… Or else they are playing defense incase you want a relationship.
She: Okay. But I don’t see how a guy, who is flirting with you, even when he has a girlfriend, is NOT interested. Isn’t he just a player? ha!
He: What I meant was if he drops the GF line without acting too
interested, its obviously the ‘not interested defense.. If he has the GF, mentions her and proceeds to pursue you… Then player it is!
He: I like that BF mentioning thing
She: Cause it gives you a challenge to overcome?
He: Oh ya, for sure. I told a girl that once last year…That I had never noticed her before she told me she had a boyfriend. She thought I was hitting on her while I was hitting on her friend instead.. I developed a bit of a crush soon after.
She: See… I find girlfriends are a huge turn off in guys… maybe because when guys commit to a girl it’s more serious, so it seems like it would be harder to pull him away from her.
He: But it’s a game.. They are challenging you.
He: New topic: Long hair or short hair??
She: ooh, I like the longish short hair…Like umm, a shag maybe? college hair! ha ha! or curly hair, yum.
He: You just love Seth Cohen don’t you?
She: Yeaaah sometimes I love Cohen! But okay then, for OC hair I like Zach’s… but not Zach himself.
He: Zach is brutal, but Ryan’s the worst!
She: No, Lindsay is the worst!
He: Overruled.
He: I hate that Cohen kid.
She: You don’t like Cohen?
He: No.. I think he’s such a dork, and his arrogance is unreal.
She: I don’t think any guys like him… but girls? Girls adore him.
He: I know they do, it makes me sick
She: Which is odd, cause if a guy was after me like Cohen is with Summer (and other girls) I would probably be like, “go away.”
He: I love how they call Ryan the “troubled kid from Chino”. It’s such a cheesy Hollywood character, like the Fonzy of our generation.
She: Ryan and Marissa need to get back together
He: No way!!! Marissa and Alex is just too good
She: Marissa is my fave! Like people who hate on her, not so cool.
He: I know… especially those who love Summer… She’s such a geek, and she’s not hot enough to get away with being that annoying.
He: I think Summer and Seth should hook up this week.
She: Oh yes! I am all about them hooking up again. That whole comic scene totally reminds me of this guy I knew in high school. He drew comics and used to draw me NON stop… But it was good, like Cohen Style, and he always made my boobs like SOOOO much bigger, it was fab.
He: Don’t you love how we went from turn-on sayings to guys hair to the OC to your boobs?
She: I know… ha haha..!
