TO Says No to Christo!
If Globe artster Sarah Milroy’s reaction to Christo and Jeanne Claude was any indication, TO will not be entertaining plans for wrapping the Eaton Centre anytime soon. And TOist must breathe a hearty sigh of relief. Though no less than four of our friends did journey southerly, in partial pursuit of a glimpse of saffron, we could not figure the allure. Rows and rows of ugly plastic sheathing, sullying an otherwise lovely place this time of year. An estimated 200,000 people (and their cameras and fannypacks) descending on New York City for the sole purpose of looking at these gates! TOist can think of 200,000 other things worthy of a visit to New York, and now that the Gates are over, we might actually make good on our threats to go see them.
