2005_01_13logo.gifIndie try-hards Pitchforkmedia resume their extensive music coverage today, back with a new site design after a lengthy holiday break. The introductory message from founder/editor-in-chief Ryan Schreiber appears to reaffirm the site’s commitment to independent music, for the “music fans who’re rightly seeking an alternative to the limitations of commercial radio and MTV.” But when the ‘alternative’ site called Destiny’s Child “the most thrilling thing on pop radio” and named their new single “pretty good” today, Torontoist wonders whether or not to trust the taste-making music nerds anymore. Remember, this is the site that gave the Uncut a 7.7 rating, and The Organ a 6.6 (um…hello?). Well, maybe they’re just trying to distance themselves from this slam with more attention to mainstream street-hop. Torontoist is glad they’re back nonetheless, as we were sick of reading Chart all the time.
