Unions: Joie de Vivre or Vivre de Joie?
The ever expanding split within the ranks of New Democratic Party of Canada breaks down as such: On one side, there are the older NDPers that take the more traditional stance in support of worker’s unions, and then there are the younger members who adhere to activism and social justice. Who is at the centre of these issues? No, not the mustachioed party leader Jack Layton, but of course the Carnaval de Quebec figurehead, Bonhomme. Bonhomme, or the twenty actors that play Bonhomme, have resigned due to labour disputes. The actors recently formed a union, but will not put a halt to the Winter Carnival running from Jan. 28 – Feb. 13. Power to the people.
