This Week’s Mixtape: Late and Overweight

2005_01_07mixtape.gifEveryone is a bit sluggish and fat after such a nice holiday, so excuse our tardiness. You might not realise it, but you are probably much fatter than you were a month ago. Torontoist is not ashamed to say we got fat. But it’s okay, all our fat went to our booty. On the subject of booty’s, you can shake yours tonight at the Cloak and Dagger Pub (394 College), where the Mercredi Mixtape extends late into the night to become L’après-heures Mixtape. Enjoy the selections today, fatty.
(And, as on every Friday, check 1051’s Free Music Fridays.)
1. Outrageous Cherry – “Why Don’t We Talk About Something Else?”
Tasty first single from the Detroit band’s like-titled E.P. The real treat, however, is “Don’t Worry” off of the same disc. Torontoist has been known to play that tune at full volume whenever we feel bloated. Only it’s not offered for download, so you’ll have to read about the band, and then buy the cheap CD.
2. Hood – “The Lost You” Video
Before Radiohead got all glitch with Kid A, this Leeds band did it first. From their forthcoming album Outside Closer. (With Real, unfortunately).
3. The Doves – “Black and White Town”
Everyone else is indulging in this stream, why can’t we?

4. Tegan & Sara – “I Know I Know I Know” and “Monday Monday Monday”
We owe it to them after a horribly erroneous erroneous erroneous post earlier this week.
2005_01_07outrageouscherry.gif5. The Fitness – “Phone Sex”
Seattle’s The Fitness might help us feel less fat too, but then this song is only on Real Player.
6. LCD Soundsystem – “The Movement” video
Relax. It’s only a link.
That should be filling enough for this week. Stop being such a fat slob and see you promptly next Wednesday!
