No, we are not talking about the wife of biscuit giant, Mr. Christie. In fact we aren’t referring to a woman at all. The Sacramento Kings have shipped Doug Christie to the Orlando Magic on the eve filming for VH1’s newest reality TV show – a program which will showcase the ex-Raptor guard’s bizarre relationship with wife Jackie.
In the world of sports, the assumption generally holds true that athletes are less-than faithful in their intimate relationships. Former Maple Leaf dirtbag Shayne Corson and LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant come to mind. On the contrast, Christie is undoubtedly the sporting world’s Most Whipped Husband and doesn’t care who knows it. Doug and Jackie communicate through hand signals during actual play. The camera has caught Christie signaling his wife an upwards of seventy times during a game. Doug refuses to talk with female reporters or leave the court without Jackie by his side. If not actually riding the team bus during road trips, Jackie trails behind, conversing with her hubby on their cell phones for the entire trip.
“Every conversation I’ve ever had with a woman since we’ve been married besides my wife she knows about,” Christie claims. “I don’t have anything to say to anybody…my time is limited to basketball and my family.” Is that so Doug? Are you sure that’s not just Christie-talk for “Doug is allowed to look at females. I would prefer he didn’t?” Cause that’s how Jackie puts it.
With two people this strange, the show is bound to be at least more interesting than his career.
