Time and time again, Torontoist allegations against Vince Carter seemed too far-fetched to be true, even made up. Some columnists went as far as to praise Vince for his time spent in Toronto and sympathized with the Mama’s Boy for the media torment which he was constantly faced with. Torontoist, however, stood firm.
Now, following his move to New Jersey and once again finding his high-flying ways, Vince has put to rest any doubts we may have had about the effort, or lack there of, that he put forth while wearing a Raptor uniform. “I was fortunate to have the talent…you get spoiled when you’re able to do a lot of things,” he said to TNT Thursday night. “You see that you don’t have to work at it. Now, with the all the injuries, I have to work harder; I’m a little hungrier. Getting a fresh start has made me want to attack the basket.”
At a time like this, Torontoist thinks back to Nov. 19th, 2004, and a certain rap/r’n’b star racing into the crowd in Auburn Hills. With that in mind, Torontoist will be officially taking donations to finance our $590 courtside ticket for VC’s return to the ACC. In exchange for your donation, you will be treated to Toronto’s Most Adorable Sports Writer attempting to kick VC square in the bread basket as the Nets wimp cuts to the basket late in the fourth quarter. Jalen Rose is even considering matching his tsunami donation to help our cause.
