We go to know Wolf Parade when half the band composed original music for Torontoist’s sister’s experimental theatre production. The music was splendidly good, and the paper maché, which they may have had a gooey hand in, wasn’t half bad either. Now the band plays cuddly puppy to Isaac Brock’s Golden Retriever of a label. People might say their work ‘defies categorization,’ which means critics can’t pick two bands and cross-polinate them in an effort to quickly define the group’s sound. Cool. They play the ubiquitously awesome Tyler Clark Burke’s Santa Cruz tonight, and odds are they will be good. Evens too.
Also on the bill are Shawn Hewitt and the Illuminati. Lee’s is the venue. Some might even call it a palace. Torontoist would not, though they do have nice bar lights.
