There’s Always SOMETHING to do . . .
Torontoist is well aware that it’s officially winter, and while we all want to have some F-U-N, the holiday season has a way of making people officially broke. But broke and cold doesn’t mean you can’t get out and about! Try any of the following for a warming winter combo of cheap, charming or cheezy:
Skate under the lights of Nathan Phillips Square. It’s free, and there are fireworks too. And if you like fireworks, there’s always a show at Ontario Places Holiday Dreams winter theme park every night (almost) at 7:30.
Or if you’re into the skating but not the lights, hit up the Harbourfront rink for a little quieter outdoor action. Or the outdoorsy can taboggon under the DVP in Riverdale Park off Broadview at Withrow once it starts snowing.
But until the slope action can happen, lots of local theatres have Pay-What-You-Can shows, even popular plays like Matt & Ben this Sunday. And there’s more P-W-Y-C fun at the Rivoli on Monday nights for their alt.comedy lounge.
If it’s culture over comedy, then try MORE free stuff! The ROM is free on Friday nights, and the AGO is free on Wednesday evenings. Can’t go wrong with a free gallery stroll.
[And finally, since cool was left off the list of what the above constitutes, tell Torontoist what cool people can do if they’re broke, bored and cold.]
