Minding Mayor Miller Goes Abstract!
Of course MDM would have a more tasteful card than Mayor Mel. But not by much. Kdding! Millertime’s card features a work, Universal Feed, by Toronto artist Sean Yul Singer. Singer quotes Marianne Williamson to put in words what Miller’s card is meant to be saying, beyond ‘Happy Holidays from MDM and fam.’ “Liberate Yourself by Liberating Others,” he says. This clinches what Torontoist has long suspected about Miller’s art taste (he also has some large Matisse prints hanging in his kitchen, or so a previous issue of TO Life tells us). He’s a Fauvist at heart! In any event, kudos to MDM for not doing the ‘family in matching christmas sweaters sitting by the fire grinning til their ears fall off’ shot. Like so.
