Hip on the Bandwidth?
The Grey Lady sends a man out to the furthest reaches of civilization. Colin Campbell goes to Ajax for a story on Sirius, explaining CanContent requirements in the process, and why it is that satellite service subscribers may “find a slightly more Canadian flavor on the radio: more Canadian music, more Canadian news and more Canadian comedy.”
By far the most humorous revelation is that Canadian Satellite Radio plans to create an ‘ambassador’ of music, to rep Canadian musicians in D.C. Torontoist thinks you call those people ‘lobbyists,’ but ambassador certainly has a more regal ring to it. Ambassador of Rock.
Odder, peripherally-related tidbits:
– CSR and GM signed a 13-year agreement. Why thirteen? Is this like a signature in printing, a radio decade of sorts?
– Kathleen Edwards has radio-unfriendly songs?
– From the Sirius chatboards: Five Latin radio stations and no Asian ones, plus ‘Canadian Wave,’ an all-Canadian rawk station.
