GOP 1979 To Play Toronto
Neo-cons, hip-publicans, and compassionate conservatives alike can find sanctuary from the real world tomorrow night at Vice Record’s label showcase tour. Headlined by Death From Above 1979, Vice Magazine is putting up their hipper-than-thou bucks for label mates DFA1979, the Panthers and Vietnam to tour North America in support of their new albums, stopping in Toronto at Lee’s Palace.
An appearance by Vice Magazine cohort Pat Buchanan is heavily rumoured, since Vice founder Gavin McInnes is all best friends with the RW fanatic now. Buchanan was in fact spotted at the Houston, Texas stop of the trendy tour, singing along to DFA1979’s “Black History Month”. Of course, in keeping with Vice Magazine style guide, Mr Buchanan was being ironic.
But as deeply annoying as Vice Magazine, Gavin McInnes and Pat Buchanan collectively can be, DFA1979 are always worth the price of admission. Especially tomorrow night when it costs $8.50 a ticket. In addition to DFA1979 playing on Dec. 30 at Kathedral (catch them before they go back to Europe!), the Jesse F. Keeler-backed Femme Fatale album is out Dec. 14.
