Time Enough for No Dead Time
Toronto’s House of Bookish Wonders, The Beguiling, plays host to a graphic novel launch this Saturday, when No Dead Time, the alluring work of Canadian cartoonist and scribe (for Tribe) Brian McLachlan gets feted at Bordello (that scary little place just north of The Beguiling itself). It’s equal parts culture jam and slacker meditation. And from the sixteen page preview that you can see here, Torontoist finds itself sufficiently enchanted with both the writing and the panels. The two protagonists represent the job archetypyes by which most of twenty-something humanity is divided. Nozomi is a record store misanthrope, and Seth a cubicle conscript. Where will the day take them? Get to Bordello at 8pm this Saturday to find out.
In closing, we especially love the line from the panel in the launch flyer: ‘If he was a book, you could colour him.’ Colour us there.
