How Bizarre
Bramptonite and ex-NHLer forward Mike Danton was sentenced yesterday to a seven and a half year prison sentence for a bizarre murder-for-hire plot in East St. Louis. And by the by, the word ‘bizarre’ is not our word, but a term used by U.S. District Judge William Stiehl, when he said, “I do not believe in over 18 years on the bench I have been faced with a case as bizarre as this one.” The former St. Louis Blue bizarrely enlisted the help of a 19-year-old and a police informant to help murder his equally bizarre agent, David Frost. Danton has since requested to be transferred back to Canada to complete his jail term. But the bizarreness doesn’t stop there. Here is a short list of bizarre Danton facts:
– Accused the general manager of the New Jersey Devils of “ruining” his life with a famously bizarre statement equating the GM with Jim Jones of the Jonestown massacre.
– Changed his last name from Jefferies to Danton.
– Sat out for almost his entire rookie season in the NHL.
– Auditioned unsuccessfully for a role in Austin Powers: Goldmember.
