Constant Love for Magneta Lane
For lovers of new music and concerts, Friday night often means making tough decisions. Do you check out the local up and comers, or do you see the established favourites? Or, do you maybe pay a visit to the band just passing through? This particular Friday is no exception, with the Tragically Hip and Joel Plaskett rockin’ the Air Canada Centre and Badly Drawn Boy stopping in at the Palais Royale. But really, the Hip will play again (and again, and again), and Badly Drawn Boy isn’t really new anymore. So, if you want to get into an excellent band at the ground level, the Magneta Lane CD Release party at Cinecycle tonight is the best choice you could make.
Magneta Lane are a girl rock band unlike other girl bands, in that calling them a girl band really means nothing. Magneta Lane are simply an exciting new rock band who have serious potential to be big. Their music is filled with strategic songs, skilled lyrics, and catchy hooks.
Magneta Lane signed to Paper Bag Records, who host the awaited CD release party tonight at Cinecycle for their Constant Lover EP (available in stores since early October). The Two Koreas and Kids On TV are opening with DJ Pammm filling the gaps. It’s $7 at the door. Magneta Lane are expected to go on around 12, doors open at 9.
**Warning** Cinecycle is small. It will be like a Paris Hilton book signing, if you don’t get there early, you might wait in line all night.
