Art on High
Torontoist has liked the work of Alain Paiement since he graced the cover of Canadian Art a few months back. His photos, aerial montages of detailed environments, invite long, Where’s-Waldo-style scrutiny. And time’s running out on his gallery show at 80 Spadina’s Leo Kamen Gallery – the show ends Nov. 13th. Some of Paiement’s work is also being shown in Oakville at the Oakville Galleries. Torontoist isn’t sure where Oakville is, but it might be high time we figured out.
To give a sense of the kind of craziness that Paiement’s brilliant work induces, we’ll share with you the wonkiest bit of artspeak ever, used to describe the artist himself by Toronto Life’s own Betty Ann Jordan:
Patient as the spider, Paiement captures life’s multifarious arrangements and stubborn quiddity.
Linguistic shock and awe. Consider us blown away.
