THEATRE: Halloween may be over, but opportunities to get scared pantless remain. Check out The Paranormal Show at Toronto's oldest home, the Campbell House. Featuring an assortment of metaphysical tricks, including—but not limited to—hypnotism, psychokinesis, and a full séance, this show may be able to outdo that weird party on the third floor of Wicked we went to on Saturday. Campbell House Museum (160 Queen Street West), 9 p.m., November 13–15, 20–22, 28–29, $40.

Early last Saturday evening, about 60 people were sprawled on leather couches inside Parkdale’s Wrongbar listening to Florida-raised, Philly-based DJ/producer Diplo crack jokes about the cost of living in his home base. In a city that, he says, is devoid of an electrifying dance music scene, Matt Sims is offering up a brand-new way for party-goers to dabble in dj beats. "I feel there been a lot missing from the dance music scene down here," Sims wrote in a release sent to Torontoist, "so we’re here to save it!" His solution? Dopplehertz.
Since its opening last October, Wrongbar has been a blessing to the Parkdale area. This Friday, it'll be hosting the second edition of the Stone's Throw Move Toronto party. The respected California indie hip hop and funk label will be sending off one of its biggest stars as Madlib spins a set. One half of Madvillian and Jaylib, Madlib also releases records under his Quasimoto guise. He will be joined by label mates Egon and Jamie Strong.
Woodhands has already put on their party hats, and they've got reasons a-plenty to celebrate—today's CD release, a recent Eye Weekly cover, being named one of five top acts to watch in 2008 by Exclaim!, and all this success without suffering a single splinter. But now, the electro-pop duo is preparing to dance your party pants off in just the right way—in one enchanted night at Wrongbar.
