Whether you're Scottish or not, it's always fun to celebrate Robbie Burns Day on January 25th. The day is to celebrate the life and death of Robert Burns, the national poet of Scotland who wrote such ditties as Auld Lang Syne and Comin' Thro' the Rye, the poem which is said to have inspired J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye. He is also known for drinking a lot and womanizing even more, and by the time he died at the ripe old age of 37 in 1796, he had fathered nine children.

When I was thirteen, I went to visit my aunt and uncle in Halifax. In the maritimes nine years ago, the Atlantic Superstores were way bigger than anything in Toronto, and they sold clothes! Mayoral Candidate Jane Pitfield is as fed up with the shenanigans at the TTC committee as we are but we think her idea of appointing members of the public to the committee is even worse. Pitfield wants four out of the nine members of the committee to be drawn from the public. On one hand we could get someone like James Bow on the TTC on the other hand we could get someone who is an SUV driving, bus hating idiot. More importantly, if we're having this much trouble reining in people we elected what's it gonna be like when we start dealing with people who are appointed?

Howard Moscoe, pointed out that this idea is discriminatory, "More than half the people in the city live in highrise buildings. People who have condos deserve as much right to noise protection as people wealthy enough to own a single-family home," he said to the Star. Howard we agree with you on this one.

Well, fear not! You're just a hop, skip and a jump away from Super Queen Market, the convenience store located at 596 Queen St. W. Conveniently close to both Theatre Passe Muraille AND Factory Theatre (still showing Claudia Dey's faboo Trout Stanley), Super Queen Market is one of a dozen or so places where Western Canadian immigrants and the men and women who love them can procure Old Dutch Chips in Toronto. A full list of these stores follows, but it should also be noted that you can order a box full of Old Dutch chips online at www.olddutchfoods.ca and get it delivered right to the door of your basement apartment.
