U2’s latest record, No Line on the Horizon, is the band’s best since Achtung Baby—and on Wednesday, September 16 (and assuming Ticketmaster doesn’t jettison its entire ticket stock to scalpers beforehand), we’ll get to hear it live at Rogers Centre. Say what you will about the band, its lead singer or its/his tendency for nauseating self-aggrandizement: U2 knows how to deliver the goods in a live arena, and the design for the forthcoming tour looks jaw-dropping. And it may not even cost you all that much to attend: according to a Billboard report, ten thousand tickets per concert will be available at thirty dollars apiece. U2’s most recent Toronto appearances—a four-show run at the Air Canada Centre in September 2005—caused Ticketmaster to crash within seconds of tickets becoming available. Be prepared for a similar occurrence on Monday, March 30, when this year’s gig reportedly goes on sale.

No word yet on whether that giant lemon will be making an appearance (Yonge and Dundas anyone?), or whether it will finally be revealed how one might actually dismantle an atomic bomb, but hundreds of U2 fans will be rattling and humming into Toronto for the fifth annual (!) inTO the Heart U2 Fan Festival, taking place from November 1 to 3.

If you've spent any time at all-ages punk shows in the last five years, chances are you’ve seen the Flatliners in action. Performing together since the tender age of fourteen, the band has made a name for themselves over the course of their six-year existence thanks to a tireless work ethic and the ability to write some catchy effing songs.

Over the past month, Hillary Clinton has been on the hunt for a campaign song, with her "exploratory committee" website inviting her followers to vote on a winner. Finalists included born-and-bred American bands like U2 and Shania Twain, as well as tried-and-true musical legends like Smash Mouth. This morning, however, the winner was announced. And Hilary Clinton's 2008 campaign song is...that Céline Dion song from that Air Canada commercial! It's such a good song it didn't even need to be on the ballot to win!

We can't quite put away our coverage of CMW without letting you in on some great music that went on Saturday night. Thousands of people milled about town on the busiest night of the festival, and that made it even more difficult to decide which bands to go see. People lined up around the block for the city's hottest events, such as the songwriter's showcase starring Bedouin Soundclash and Jim Cuddy at The Mod Club.

You wouldn't expect to hear the words "AC/DC's Back in Black" and "recital" in the same breath, but that's exactly what goes on each month at the Phoenix's Classic Albums Live concerts.

Added this week: "One" by U2 and "All I Wanna Do Is Have Some Fun" by Sheryl Crow

- Uh, P Diddy/Mr. Sean John was in town to promote his stellar line of custom tailoring last evening, but who the hell is Puff? Call him the artist formerly known as puff, if you must. Launching new duds with Puff

This week marks the countdown to next weekend’s opening of the much-anticipated and much-debated Massive Change exhibit at the AGO. Everyone has criticized Mau’s bizarrely utopian and woolly optimism. Mau’s 2001 book, Life Style, focused on shaping design’s role in individual lives, recognizing that ‘lifestyle’ in the post-war period had come to be defined solely in terms of consumptive patterns rather than class or occupation. The argument was loosely patched together by brilliant aesthetic design and soaring catchphrases, but when broken down, puzzlingly vacant - resembling an elaborately bound PowerPoint presentation with great photography.

This February 14th is in the running for the most depressing day of the year. The gloomy weather, the TTC fair hike, U2's performance at the Grammys and the fact that it's a Monday all add up to one sad day. So to get you and yours in the mood, Torontoist has come up with this cute little playlist...(Sorry, no downloads)

. U2 has revealed their new Vertigo World Tour, with only one Canadian stop in Vancouver. But hold on to that $165 you've been saving for tickets: The band is rumoured to come to Toronto in early fall, with September 17th suggested as a possible concert date. U2 has said that they are avoiding a Toronto tour stop unless the city halts the opening of the hideous Metro Nightclub this week.

, due out in March, has been hailed by the Boston Globe as "another swirling experiment in psychedelic rock."
