All summer long, Toronto has been jam-packed with countless cultural festivities, and as the last weekend of the summer begins to dawn on us—with students gearing up for school and vacations coming to an unfortunate end—why not end the summer with some Ukrainian style?

For those of us who grew up watching Buffalo television, the city seems like a nearby suburb or one of those neighbourhoods that you heard about but never visited. The phrase “Three alarm fire in Tonawanda” was as familiar as Bad Boy’s “Noooo-body.” Yet, cross border shopping aside, it's surprising how few Torontonians have really been to Buffalo. We went last week and we recommend the day trip. Here's a short list of things to do in the City of Trees.

In Craig Silverman’s most recent Globe Life blog entry, entitled "How to lose friends and make people hate you," (cute, but sounds familiar, doesn’t it?) he discusses a Harvard Business Review study about likeability in the workplace. According to the study, people won't want to work with you if you act smug, sarcastic, or bored or if you obsess over your own workload.

cheapdate.gifIt's the last long weekend of the summer, and if you're anything like me, you're dreaming of getting out from under the sonic booms intruding into your solitude (such is living next to the CNE and it's traditional Labour Day Weekend air show).

Now, Torontoist has absolutely no intention of getting into the whole Sienna-Miller-playing Edie Sedgwick debacle, because well, we have more important things to do with our time then to babble about celebrity fodder. Yet, Edie was a pretty fascinating mix of American socialite, debutante, heiress and lest we forget, Andy Warhol's muse. Their relationship did not last through an entire calendar year, yet Edie's inspiration on pop culture has lasted longer than anyone would've expected. She had a certain something, that certain something being a whole lot kooky and hopped-up on speed, but her short life proved to be very full. And this year's Mondo-Urban Installment at the Gladstone Hotel plans to pay tribute to this 60's icon with DJs spinning some tunes, fashion and make-up from the likes of MAC and Foxy Originals, along with some original art from local artists. So, find out more about the girl who inspired "Like a Rolling Stone" as well as being the rumoured inspiration behind all of Dylan's seminal 1966 opus "Blonde on Blonde," on April 20th at the Gladstone Hotel (1214 Queen Street West). Tickets are available at Soundscapes (552 College Street) and at Ticket Web.

Obviously, it is still very new and we should allow them time to work out the kinks, like replacing their version of “hip” Vjs for one (a few of 'em pictured here). Torontoist will honestly say that based on the quality of their marketing across the city and on television there is potential for good things but do they think they can win us over with a few scantily-clad episodes of Torontoist has better things to do like change her cat’s litter and scrubbing toilets than waste anymore brain cells on television this bad.

There's a breeze in the air, and a million things to do before winter wraps its claws around you. Get out there!

All sorts of things to do this weekend, and so many questions to be answered. For example...

Without a huge billboard-style sign out front or a dizzying chalkboard menu above the bar like the impersonal coffee franchises nearby, the quaint anonymity of TB is refreshing.
