In the most important news story of the day, two people have been arrested in the mysterious case of Huckleberry, the dog who vanished from outside a Yonge Street bakery and was returned after his owner offered a $15,000 reward. Police haven't said whether they believe Huckleberry was in on the caper.

A three hour Blackberry outage affected millions of people across North America yesterday, leading to much wailing and handwringing over the temporary unavailability of a technology that didn't even exist ten years ago. Truly we are a nation of whiners.

9:00pm – The White Planet (Cumberland 2)

The U of T Humanities Department's Voicing Toronto Conference is a mixture of lectures, screenings, performances and readings. Attempting to rope in six humanistic disciplines, they're offering something for everyone, or at least for anyone who lives in Toronto and enjoys the occasional foray into obscure local history. The film events include works by Don McKellar, Clement Virgo and David Cronenberg. The music component includes shows about Glenn Gould's Toronto and A Toronto Songbook. And the art component is a show that attempts to explore the idea of Toronto art. Also of note is a show of Toronto souvenirs, as curated by the MA Museum Studies students at the U of T. At least someone is saving all those misspelled 'I survived Sars' Tees for posterity.

The U of T is currently in the midst of a major project to transform all three of its campuses, and so far, TOist is impressed with the results: the New College Residence at the corner of Spadina and Willcocks is nothing short of inspiring, and their selection of architects - from Saucer+Perotte to Andropogon - has been contemporary and tasteful.

Whatever the cause, money in city coffers should please everyone. Fag hagglers, however opportunistic, can hardly be more reprehensible than bureaucracy bilkers.
