Rabbit in the Moon, the legendary Los Angeles-based funky techno crew best known for their insane, pyrotechnic, costumed stage performances and dark, live beats, is headlining the last ever all-ages party at The Sound Academy, a.k.a. The Docks, this Saturday at Destiny's Together As One. This will be the first time Rabbit in the Moon has performed within city limits since 1999, which should prove to be a frenetic, immersive performance with wearable lasers, futuristic weapons that shoot geysers made of sparks, and plenty of weird surprises from the guy dancing on stage.

Is 1996 retro yet?

Today's topic in The Star's increasingly mundane "20 Questions" feature - where they ask the three biggest mayoral candidates questions about a whole plethora of subjects - was Favourite Movies. Jane Pitfield picked It's A Wonderful Life, The Sound of Music, and Ben Hur, three great films in three seperate genres that are generally accepted by audiences and critics to be among the best of all time. David Miller chose Casablanca, Apocalypse Now, and Richard Pryor Live on the Sunset Strip; another three respectable choices, with a great comedy routine thrown in for good measure.

Torontoist first heard of Toby Young soon after the launch of his debut book How To Lose Friends And Alienate People. Young, a British magazine editor and writer, tries to cross the pond and make it at Graydon Carter's Vanity Fair. The book was a recounting of Young's misadventures in the New York media world and because journalists like nothing more than talking about each other, the book was widely reviewed, inflated Young's reputation (for good and bad). It even got the book made into a play in London's West End and optioned for a film.

Assuming it doesn't rain torrents, you have two options for free filmgoing this evening. Dundas Square offers family fun with The Sound of Music, while Harbourfront capitalizes on its proximity to a large body of (sharkless) water with Jaws. Do neither of these films tickle your fancy? Then why not set up a screening in your own backyard? Rent a projector, pop in your favourite movie, and invite TOist over. We love us some Christopher Plummer, but it's time for a little more variety at city screenings!
