Photo by Media Eater. It's hard to believe that it's been 12 years since DJ Shadow dropped his groundbreaking debut, Endtroducing .... Since then, the Bay Area DJ has helped form the respected indie hip hop label Quannum Projects and released a couple of lesser acclaimed albums including 2006's hyphy influenced, The Outsider. Since then, DJ Shadow has been working with fellow crate digger and former Jurassic 5 DJ, Cut Chemist. The pair will......

A longtime staple of the holiday season is a special visit from jolly old St. Nick to the nearest shopping mall or department store. Kids relish the opportunity to tell Santa that they want the latest hot toy, peace on Earth or an official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model air rifle, while retailers hope these gift lists translate into sales. If the establishment has hired their Santa carefully, kids will not need to......

While Hilary Clinton was content to let her supporters choose her theme song, the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party has asked Dalton McGuinty's detractors to pick one for him. "What tune best represents Dalton McGuinty's campaign?" asks their website, accompanied by a Say Anything–inspired pic of the premier (pictured at right). "Which lyrics do you think of when you see Liberal red? Their election campaign needs a theme song and here's your chance to play political......

All the news outlets are talking about the TTC strike but lots of other things happened on the weekend. A couple was killed in a bad traffic accident on Saturday night. Police suspect street racing as a possible cause. Leslie Scrivener of the Star writes a nice synopsis of the city's cycling culture. The story includes decent photos of scantily clad cyclists.... HOT. Mayor Miller is pissed off at ads that the Port Authority is......

Don Woods of Scavenger sings "You Keep Me Hanging On," a cover of the Supremes. Scavenger, the band that invented jam-aoke, showed their dedication to the Ryerson community by opting out of a higher-paying gig to play a one-off gig at the Ram and Rye campus pub. The band had a more lucrative gig at the Red Lion, but faced a condundrum when they were informed by the pub that there was too much......

Torontoist reader Janos points us to the irony of talking about great DVD's in the wake of so much tragedy. And indeed, as the numbers swell, and the destruction becomes more evident, TOist has been struck by the horror of it all. Yesterday, we debated whether Canada was doing enough, over a delicious tortiere, and the richness of it made us feel fortunate beyond belief. Canada has pledged over $4 million in aid, but how......

Torontoist stuck to their promise and waited for an end to the losing steak prior to any mention of the struggling Toronto Raptors. Last night they were able to snap a seven game skid with a 96-90 win against and the Minnesota Timberwolves. With a career performance out of youngster Chris Bosh and the physical dominance of fan favourite Matt "The Red Rocket" Bonner, the Raps took the “M” and “V” out of reigning MVP......
