Extreme cold alert! Be forewarned that this extreme cold is not extreme in the sense of "it is totally radical like Doritos and Mountain Dew," but rather extreme in the sense of "it can kill you if you stay out in it too long." Environment Canada will discuss the prospects of the extreme cold's effect on totally shredding slopes with your snowboard later today. Barack Obama thumps Hillary Clinton over the weekend, with impressively......

Torontoist is ending the year by naming our Heroes and Villains of 2007––the people, places, and things that we've either fallen head over heels in love with or developed uncontrollable rage towards over the past twelve months. Get your dose, starting Boxing Day and running into the new year, three times a day––sunrise, noon, and sunset. By all accounts, John Tory is an individual of impeccable character and integrity who planned to restore civility to......

The CBC is reporting that the provincial government announced an ambitious new project today to revamp Kipling Station and turn it into a major transit hub for Etobicoke and Mississauga. The announcement came from Transportation Minister Donna Cansfield and Environment Minister Laurel Broten early this afternoon. The new station, which will be owned and operated by GO Transit, is set to have an inter-regional bus terminal and will connect Mississauga Transit and GO buses......

City council says up to 2,500 tonnes of dog poop are deposited in park trash bins every year. This is problematic since our garbage dumps in Michigan refuse to take it. So where should we put our growing heap of canine feces? Councillor Pam McConnell (Ward 28, Toronto Centre-Rosedale) thinks the city should provide green bins in parks, while Councillor Paula Fletcher (Ward 30, Toronto-Danforth) doesn't think it's a big deal for dog owners......

I hope everyone has built their ark – it could get wet. Meteorologists are saying a month’s worth of rain – up to 75 mm – could fall upon Toronto over the next 36 hours. If Mel were still here he’d call in the army. Prime Minister Stephen Harper is going to meet Chinese President Hu Jintao. Wait a minute – no he’s not. Hold on – it looks like the two will meet after......

The saga of the anagram transit maps continues. Sean Lerner, who last week stood in support with blogger RobotJohnny by hosting the TTC Anagram Map on his site and pushing for supporters to mail their complaints to the TTC, received a note from TTC committee chair Howard Moscoe. Transit Toronto has more here. Ladies and Gentleman let's keep this fight clean. The Liberals have decided to hold their leadership convention in December. Toronto-area stalwart Bill......

It seems Bob Rae has a Valentine's day crush on free-market, as his Rae Report calls for different schools to allow for different tuition. Student costs could rise as much as 20%, says Jesse Greener of the Ontario Federation for Students. But wait! The Liberals plan to put more money in the system. Thank you, Dalt. But where else would you put the extra tuition if not back into education? OSAP will get $300 million......

Conservative leader Stephen Harper may have suggested Canada look at Belgium as a role model for government, but PM Paul Martin seems to have his sights set on Amsterdam. On Monday, Martin and the federal Liberals asked everybody to just chill out over the country's current marijuana possession laws. Martin's minority government is attempting to re-introduce the marijuana decriminalization bill, which would make possession of marijuana only a fineable offence. For holding 15 grams or......
