Extreme cold alert! Be forewarned that this extreme cold is not extreme in the sense of "it is totally radical like Doritos and Mountain Dew," but rather extreme in the sense of "it can kill you if you stay out in it too long." Environment Canada will discuss the prospects of the extreme cold's effect on totally shredding slopes with your snowboard later today.

Torontoist is ending the year by naming our Heroes and Villains of 2007––the people, places, and things that we've either fallen head over heels in love with or developed uncontrollable rage towards over the past twelve months. City council says up to 2,500 tonnes of dog poop are deposited in park trash bins every year. This is problematic since our garbage dumps in Michigan refuse to take it. So where should we put our growing heap of canine feces? Councillor Pam McConnell (Ward 28, Toronto Centre-Rosedale) thinks the city should provide green bins in parks, while Councillor Paula Fletcher (Ward 30, Toronto-Danforth) doesn't think it's a big deal for dog owners to carry the waste home and flush/compost it. It seems Bob Rae has a Valentine's day crush on free-market, as his Rae Report calls for different schools to allow for different tuition. Student costs could rise as much as 20%, says Jesse Greener of the Ontario Federation for Students. But wait! The Liberals plan to put more money in the system. Thank you, Dalt. But where else would you put the extra tuition if not back into education? OSAP will get $300 million and hopefully they can fix that clock at Innis Hall.
The Liberals brought a similar bill before parliament in May 2003, but lost momentum when Martin called the June 28 federal election. Although the decriminalization bill was supported by all parties the first time around, it is expected to face some new opposition in parliament. Mustachioed Torontonian MP Jack Layton and his NDP have supported the proposed bill, while the Conservatives are thought to be against. According to Conservative Manitoba MP Vic Toews, his constituents "would rather be working than smoking drugs." But that really depends on where you work, doesn't it?
