"What's The Frequency, Campus?" highlights some of the intriguing shows and special programming happening on Toronto's campus and community radio stations. The Show: Mental Chatter The Host: Denise Benson Where and when: CKLN 88.1 FM, Mondays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Denise Benson has been hosting Mental Chatter for an astounding 19 years. Interesting and depressing news today in the Toronto Star, with the revelation that there are no plans to release the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theatres in Canada. Why is that, hmm? The article states (quite correctly) that it’s one of the most popular shows on The Detour on Teletoon (where you can watch it at 10:15 p.m. weeknights) so why they’re not giving it at least a limited release here confounds......

Ontario to raise minimum wage to $10.25 by 2010 in new budget. NDP critic predictably says "no, we want it NOW," but Torontoist feels this is one instance where Dalton McGuinty's tendency to take as middling a road as possible has produced just about the best possible result. A twenty-five percent raise in the minimum wage over three years (and what will be a sixty-six percent raise since the Liberals took office in 2003)......

A busy day for Torontoist yesterday, though no parties; though the Star! TV Shmooze was taking place. We didn’t hear any gossip about it, but it did rain. So we imagine the gossip would be something like… Famous celebrities got a bit wet. Torontoist instead felt the hot tickets of the night were the screening of Guy Maddin’s Brand Upon the Brain, which featured members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, foley artists, a narrator and......

Well, with day one done and dusted, this morning perhaps many people will still be sleeping off the opening night party, but for others (not least the staff and volunteers) it been another early morning to get the festival up and running. This is the first full day of the festival and as such it’s heavy with films to join the rush queue for. Let’s see what we’d give that honor to. Visions 11:15am –......

We said in an earlier review that we always stay to the end of the credits of a film that we’ve enjoyed; King and the Clown is the kind of film that this rule was made for. The biggest box office smash in Korean cinematic history (well, until The Host came along) King and the Clown is the story of a pair of travelling performers, the headstrong Jang-seng (Karm Woo-sung) and the feminine Gong-gil (Lee......

Our favourite programme of the festival, the Midnight Madness, has been announced by the Toronto International Film Festival Group surprisingly early, but, we suppose, that’s to stop the voracious barnacles of genre movie fans smashing the hull of the good ship Midnight Madness by trying find as many leaks as possible. We really enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean 2, can you tell? But this year with the early launch only a couple of dribbles slipped......
