Last Thursday night, a lucky few who thoughtfully pre-ordered Metric’s new album filed into a secret show on Queen Street West to get an early taste of what they invested their dollars in. The event's details, aimed to promote the April 7 release of their latest album Fantasies, was kept under wraps until hours before doors opened, but the late notice didn’t prevent the house from filling up with around 150 fans who were willing to cancel their evening plans. The deceptively named Great Hall was actually quite small for the figurative size of the band, but perfect to set the cool, secret vibe of the exclusive show.

ART: Side Space Gallery open their "new.Re.new" exhibit today, featuring five artists. Each piece of fibrework, sculpture, or painting is by an artist either new to the gallery, new to the neighbourhood, or new to art creation in general, so be nice and offer directions to any amateur artists you find wandering aimlessly near the gallery. Side Space Gallery (1080 St. Clair Avenue West), opening reception at 7 p.m., runs until January 16, 2009, FREE.

SPORTS: Join Red Bull Street Style today at the Great Hall for the National Street Style Finals. Sixteen soccer-trick stars will compete to become Canada's freestyle soccer champion, with the winner advancing to the Red Bull Street Style Worlds Finals next month in Brazil.
