After personally emailing us to confirm that they won't be detained and given a "special Canadian inspection" at the border, San Francisco's Birdmonster are happy to finally be allowed in our fair land, and will be headlining a show at The Horseshoe this Wednesday, March 28, in support of their latest album No Midnight.

We can't quite put away our coverage of CMW without letting you in on some great music that went on Saturday night. Thousands of people milled about town on the busiest night of the festival, and that made it even more difficult to decide which bands to go see. People lined up around the block for the city's hottest events, such as the songwriter's showcase starring Bedouin Soundclash and Jim Cuddy at The Mod Club.

For live music junkies, the week between Christmas and New Year's can offer very little in terms of quality shows. The folks at The Drake Hotel are trying to remedy the situation with their What's In The Box? week of shows. Running from the 26th to the 30th, the Drake Underground and Lounge are featuring the best acts from 2006. Each day is five dollars and features five bands, leading to a nice "5 Bands 5 Days 5 Dollars" slogan.

Toronto synth-punk band Pony Da Look starts up this Thursday Music Roundup. PDL, which up until recently had been on a break, are back in force. They're doing two shows, one tonight with Kiss Me Deadly and Pyramid Culture at Sneaky Dee's ($8 bucks) and tommorow as part of Lederhosen Lucil's EP and Zine launch (pictured here).
