The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominations for the Oscars this morning. Canada done good. Torontoist fave Sarah Polley landed a nod for Best Adapted Screenplay for Away From Her, based on the Alice Munro story "The Bear Came Over The Mountain." TOist fell in love with artist and actress Kirsten Johnson's sock puppet paintings a few years ago. Her Touchy Feely socks were whimsical, but no less seriously painted for it. Now she's got a new body of work called Make Me, which features devious kids getting into all kinds of trouble.
