By now, all the red carpets are rolled back up and sitting in a broom closet at the Elgin (or something, wherever they keep them), Clooney's handsome footprints are stored away for another long year, and all the hottest celebs have flown off to resume being glamourous in their own cities. We're sad, kinda, but we'll always have our special memories of another TIFF gone by. And even better/lazier than memories, we have photos! Now that the shots flowing into the Torontoist Flickr Pool have slowed to a safe trickle, we gladly brings you the best (or just the most celeb-y) of the lot. Eat 'em up.

Last week, because we were completely distracted by Dock in a Box, we didn’t mention our sadness at the loss of both Ingmar Bergman and Michelangelo Antonioni. We also couldn’t think of a Director bad enough to lament the continued existence of in the same breath.

Let’s start with something everyone likes: free films! Yes, the U of T’s Cinema Studies Student Union has revealed the new Free Friday Films line-up, starting tonight with Atom Egoyan’s Exotica. Next week is Terry Gilliam’s The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, and Feb. 23 features a Cult Night triple-bill, with Monster Squad, The Brood, and The Human Tornado all showing. Screenings are at Innis College Town Hall, 2 Sussex Ave.

Brazil.

After bringing us the films of Michelangelo Antonioni and Krzysztof Kieslowski this past summer, the fall season of Cinematheque Ontario begins on October 6th. The programme features a series of films by Terry Gilliam, including his latest, Tideland (not screened in Toronto since TIFF 05), and Brazil, introduced by the director himself. The films of Andy Warhol, a series of Vietnam films, and a spectrum of Vancouver New Wave will be screened as well.

So… The festival has been on for a full day, and Torontoist has very little to actually report, having stayed in for the night. Well, it did see the star of Short Cuts Canada film ‘Patterns’ (by Jamie Travis) wearing a stylish lime green dress and looking a bit confused, so there is that, if anything. That film is in Programme 5: Genre Redux, if you like the sound of her.

. The Gilliam flick, filmed largely in Saskatchewan, will no doubt be the headliner as it makes its world premiere at the 30th annual film fest. As of this moment, there'll be eight world premieres this year. Cate Blanchett will also be in the house. Get prepared here.
