So, what did you think of that nine percent increase in water billing? How would you like a TWELVE percent increase? Because water staffers are suggesting it as an "alternative plan." I suppose technically it's an alternative, but it doesn't have the feel of what an "alternative plan" is supposed to be; usually there's a sort of tradeoff involved, as opposed to "well, in this plan we raise prices, and in one we raise them even more."

Ed Mirvish: theatre tycoon, city hero and...turkey giveaway guru? People lined up overnight outside Honest Ed's for the 19th Annual Turkey Giveaway on Sunday. Now approaching age 93, Ed himself was sadly not in attendance, but son David Mirvish took over greeting duties.
The Tories are taking a chainsaw to Status of Women Canada, closing three-quarters of the organization's regional offices, including Toronto's. Heritage Minister Bev Oda insisted that the budget cuts and office closings will streamline the department and make it more efficient. Just like a business! Because government should be run like a business!
