We just found out about this absolutely incredible transit map of Toronto that incorporates the TTC, Go Transit, VIVA, Brampton Transit, Mississauga Transit, and Vaughan Transit into handy-dandy Google Map form, meaning you can easily input a location and find the nearest transit routes that surround it.
Torontoist will take a look each week at what's being said on the people's perpendicular press on and around the Danforth. Given the absence of wooden poles and the city's policy of scrape, scrape, scrape, vox pop isn't as loud as it used to be. Pity.
This summer, Torontoist wanted to do something fun. Something TTC-y. So they've hired me (ok, some of my Metropass is covered each month) to visit and photograph every TTC station on the map throughout the months of May, June, July, and August - no more than one a day, in order. This project will simply be called 69, for the 69 TTC stations across our city. Yeah, 69. We're that edgy. The project will...
The City decides to shelve their new dogs in parks policy. A lot of people are pissed off on both the pro-dog and no-dog sides. We've said it once and we'll say it again, come fall we think this'll be an election issue.
Torontoist has written about flirting on the TTC here, here and here. But in case you need some more hints and tips the ladies at 52 Mondays offer you expert advice here. Heck you can practice it on that hottie during the ride home.
Spacing is launching their Transit issue tommorow tomorrow night at the Gladstone Hotel doors at 8 ($10, includes a mag).

The always busy Jim Munroe has created a "Choose Your Own Podventure" a la those badly written but oh so addictive books (like this one). You can download them on No Media Kings. The podcast adventure features our very own Sean Lerner as the Man In Black 2, how mysterious!
The saga of the anagram transit maps continues. Sean Lerner, who last week stood in support with blogger RobotJohnny by hosting the TTC Anagram Map on his site and pushing for supporters to mail their complaints to the TTC, received a note from TTC committee chair Howard Moscoe. Transit Toronto has more here.
Torontoist wants to give a hearty slap on the back to Sean Lerner, our transit contributor, originator of the TTC Rider Efficiency Guide and defender of the right of TTC riders everywhere to anagram station names. Lerner sent an open letter to TTC chair Howard Moscoe over the commission's cease and desist letter to blogger Johnny Martz, the creator of the ttc anagram map that this blog and others have written about.
Since we're not going to get a mounted award that we can hang in our storefront, we'll have to just tell you straight-up: NOW Magazine has named Torontoist the Best Blog in Toronto. Party on! The short description of our site, along with a nod to Spacing's Photoblog, is probably one of the nicest short descriptions ever written about us. Except, what is this about giving 'shout-outs' on the site? Whatever, it's still very nice. And, just for kicks, a special shout-out goes to Sean Lerner, Chromewaves, and Boy Reporter.
The New It Spot has no fixed address, a $2.50 cover charge and unfortunately closes too early. Yes, we're talking about the subway. Torontoist's Sean Lerner has written about last week's knit-off, on the TTC, we've also written about Subway Parties and now we have Toronto's Live with Culture campaign gussying up Eglinton station and 10 subway cars.
The Queen West Art Crawl marks its third birthday this weekend. So much stuff, from open studios to the outdoor art show and sale to "HOUSE CALL: A multi-disciplinary Experiment Where Queen St. W. Invites You Home." Beyond that, Instant Coffee takes over the MOCCA courtyard, and the RBC painting comp hangs indoors.
TTCRider's Sean Lerner has compiled a tips page to facilitate the train commute, and he wants your tips. Tips include everything from how to deduce which train is coming to where you can hop a shuttle to Ikea (Leslie Station). Submit the best rider guider tip and you can with a free guide.
