Readers in their thirties may remember Going Great: the Toronto-produced CBC/Cineworld newsmagazine targeted to kids. The series eventually folded after a few seasons wrestling the challenges of presenting newsy human-interest stories to kids, but it won a 1983 Children's Broadcast Institute Award for Best Network Television Program. Doctors urged to use tape measure to see if medical advice is necessary due to excess abdominal fat. I'm all for anti-obesity measures, but surely this is counterproductive? Did we really need another reason to dislike going to the doctor for a checkup? Toronto Star employee buys old laptop on eBay, gets relatively recent Canadian Alliance mailing information. Toronto's rash of shoe abandonment is still going strong, and this Big Fish tribute has been dangling next to an Annex park for months now. Is there an ineffective Robin Hood-style shoe bandit on the loose, stealing from the shod, distributing to the shoeless (if this is the case, Shoe Bandit, TOist would like to point out that those without shoes are also unlikely to own a ladder)? Or are Torontonians just such slaves......
