So it’s Christmas next week, which means, as per usual, not very much going on in terms of independent cinema in Toronto but shed loads of films shoved out in the multiplexes to get that much sought after cash of people who want to sit in a darkened room. Couple of big, big press releases from the hard working TIFF press office today, with a slate of film announcements in their Gala and Special Presentation programmes. The big announcement in the Gala programme is undoubtedly the world premiere of For Your Consideration, Christopher Guest’s latest moc-moc-a-doc. A comedic look at the film industry featuring all the Guest regulars (plus, urgh, Ricky Gervais), we hope to see Toronto’s own Catherine O’Hara and (co-writer) Eugene Levy......

Briton Karl Pilkington - an unlikely cult figure even for Queen Street - is now available in pin-form at Pages Books & Magazines. For those out of the loop, Mr. Pilkington is the oddball star of a weekly, once-free Ricky Gervais pod-cast.
