Each week, Torontoist shows off the most interesting, creative, and cool submissions to our Torontoist Flickr Pool. We're especially partial to photos that show our city in a new light, highlight a recent event, and remind us why we live here. Join the Flickr pool and show us what you've got. In Tuesday's news round-up, we told you that the plan to sell McDonald's the land at Bloor and Avenue had been halted until January 18. It's a good thing, too, as there are many questions that must be answered before the $3.38 million sale is finalized. Is it in the best interest for Toronto taxpayers? Is the sale a smart corrective action to the bungled 1971 lease agreement or another dumb move we'll regret for......

Photo by Marc Lostracco. Deliberately confusing customers is big business in Canada, and fudging advertised prices with hidden fees is a hallmark of this particular circle of hell. Consumers can activate their cable television within a day, but can't cancel it without paying for the following month. Let’s start with the film festivals for a change, huh? Most intriguing has to be the Toronto International Latin Film Festival, because it’s… on at the Royal Cinema? Que El? It’s interesting to see the old girl is in use again; until now we haven’t heard anything about it, and don’t even know if it’s been renovated yet. Maybe? The film festival starts tonight at 7pm with the Chilean film For Rent, and runs until......

Things Montrealers told us about Toronto this weekend: Everyone’s getting shot here. Rent is too expensive. It’s the source of white collar crime. People dress and walk funny here. Things Torontonians told us about Montreal this weekend: There’s nothing to do. It’s a dead city that’s crumbling in on itself. Everyone interesting moved away a long time ago. It looks nice, but who cares? Things Montrealers told us about Montreal this weekend: Housing is......

Assuming it doesn't rain torrents, you have two options for free filmgoing this evening. Dundas Square offers family fun with The Sound of Music, while Harbourfront capitalizes on its proximity to a large body of (sharkless) water with Jaws. Do neither of these films tickle your fancy? Then why not set up a screening in your own backyard? Rent a projector, pop in your favourite movie, and invite TOist over. We love us some Christopher......
