When Monkey Warfare premiered at TIFF last year, Torontoist's Mathew Kumar gave it a less-than-positive review. (Its director and star were none too pleased.) When it opened at the Royal in December, however, I commented, "I personally love Monkey Warfare....I've been urging everyone I know to see it; the film fills me with a glee that makes me want to shout its title from the rooftops....On a number of levels, the film is an ode to my dual passions of film and public space advocacy in Toronto; I feel like it's a movie made for me and my friends....While I would stop short of calling it the film of my life, Monkey Warfare succeeds at being something that few films I have ever seen actually manage to be: anthemic."

Wow, we can't believe it's half-over. It seems like just a few days ago we weren't sure how we were going to cope with the film fest taking over our city now we're not sure how we're going to fill that empty hole in our hearts when the curtain falls on Saturday.

A busy day for Torontoist yesterday, though no parties; though the Star! TV Shmooze was taking place. We didn’t hear any gossip about it, but it did rain. So we imagine the gossip would be something like… Famous celebrities got a bit wet.

So the first question you may have for is in our coverage of the first day of the festival is “What’s the gossip from the opening night party?” And we have to be honest, it’s not really like we know if there even was any. But still, in the style of a gossip column, kinda:
